Which bridal bouquet do you like better?

I worked long and hard on my bouquets recently.  Ran out of ribbon and had to buy more.  Each bouquet took about 3 yards of ribbon to wrap the stems!  So here are the three bridesmaid bouquets:

The yellow one is Beth’s, the orange one is Allie’s, and the red one is my sister Katy’s, as maid of honor.  I put the white rose in the middle of hers to make it more distinct.  So I can’t decide whether to have a little burst of those colors in the middle of my bouquet:

…or keep it all traditional bridal white:

Thoughts?

Simon and I are casual people.  I enjoy the occasional fancy get-together, but in general we’re very laid-back.  I knew when my aunt asked me about my shower that I wanted it to be co-ed, as it’s Simon’s wedding too!  And with guys there, you don’t want anything too frilly, so I requested a BBQ.  I received the official invitation recently, and it’s super sweet.  So of course I needed a new dress, even though it’s casual, because that’s me!  ;)  I went shopping at Kohl’s with a cute pair of new shoes to match it to: aqua wedge espadrilles.  I ended up with this adorable number:

It’s far trendier than my usual style, so it was something fun and different.  It was $60, marked down to $45, then I had a $10 coupon.  Woot!  I love it.  I even bought Spanx and a bandeau bra to go under it so it looks even better, lol.

In other news, I’m officially down 30 lbs. total, woo hoo!  Hoping for another 10 by the wedding.  My first gown fitting is Thursday, so pretty much while you’re reading this blog.  I can’t wait!  I miss my gown!

Well crap. David's Bridal finally designed a wedding dress I want.

I got an email from David's Bridal last week with their new fall styles. Out of curiosity I checked them out, and of course they finally have a sweetheart neckline A-line lace gown. Exactly what I've been looking for. The only problem? It's tea length. Not flattering on short and chubby me. Especially when bridesmaids are wearing floor length.

I am 4'11”, so there's a possibility it will actually be floor length on me. I'm sure the models are like 5'8” or taller. Unfortunately, it looks even shorter on the non-plus-size model:

I would NOT wear the little jacket it comes with, and would probably have a seamstress make the back lace-up instead of zip-up and use the white satin sash it comes with to tie it up.

I made an appointment to try it on. If it works, I think I can resign myself to wearing a DB dress. At least it's one I can try on and KNOW what I'm buying. If it's too short but otherwise works, I'll buy one of the lace ones I've wanted online. If it doesn't work at ALL, well then I'm back to square one, because I love lace gowns but still don't know how well they work on me.

The biggest thing I'll accomplish by trying it on is finally seeing a lace dress on me. I've wanted to, but hadn't seen the right kind at DB and didn't want to deal with the big bridal salons. Something that was also kind of fun was making the appointment. I asked if they had this one in stock and said I would probably need a 14. She asked my street size, thinking this was my first time with them, and I explained I tried on 18s and 16s last time I was there, and have lost almost 30 lbs. since. Her shocked, “WOW! Congratulations!” made my day, hehe.

So the motorcycle thing I tweeted about above? Yeah, kinda got in a little accident Tuesday night. Had to stop short to avoid hitting someone that didn't see me, and immediately fell over on my left side. I have a skinned and bruised knee and walking kind of hurts, but otherwise I'm fine. I'll still ride again, but it definitely shook me up a bit. It also drove home the importance of not riding for like a MONTH before my wedding so I'm in one piece!

Dammit forgot to do save-the-dates this weekend. Argh, fail.

That’s right, I’m finally BEHIND on something!  I know I’m not late for the usual save-the-date deadline, but with so many out-of-town guests, I wanted to get them out ASAP.  But with test-driving a motorcycle on Saturday (which we put a down payment on!) and running in my first 5k on Sunday, I was a little busy.

So now I’m past the 6-month mark.  Less than 6 months till my wedding now.  I need to send out those save-the-dates, but my weekday schedule leaves little time for that so it looks like this weekend will be the time to do it.  I also need to get back to the furniture rental company and set up an appointment to view the couches.  Those are my immediate concerns.

Next on the list are setting up wedding day car service, calling the hair and makeup woman I have a business card for, contacting the caterer with my food choices, sending sheet music to my pianist, ordering invitations and programs, and booking the rehearsal dinner.  Whew!  I need all that done before July, which sounds far away, but totally isn’t.

July, the 3-month mark, has its own huge list of to-dos.  I don’t even want to think about those right now.  In other news, I’ve still got 30 lbs. to lose, I changed my mind on my dress AGAIN (back to LilyWedding.com as LightInTheBox.com never responded to my questions), and I’m still having wedding nightmares.  The most recent one involved my dress not being tailored in time and having to go to a store and buy one off the rack the day before my wedding.  I don’t know why I’m so paranoid about my wedding when asleep, and fairly optimistic when awake.  I can’t imagine I’m going to sleep well the month before the wedding.

Like most brides, I’m excited, yet terrified I won’t be able to pull it off.  This is SO much work!

Getting really impatient to order the rest of my wedding stuff, but it's still 6 months away!

Suddenly my wedding is only half a year away, but I’m completely antsy to do more.  I’m mailing save-the-dates this week, so I can give our multitude of out-of-state guests plenty of time to plan.  I’ll also order the programs and invitations soon, now that they’re all designed and priced out.
We’re getting married six months from Friday!  OMG!!!
I need to buy all the décor and silk flowers, but that will take up a LOT of room in the house and really won’t take long to put together.  I think July will be the month I really buckle down, because that’s also when I’m ordering my dress.  Everything becomes a bit more real when you order your dress.  ;)
I’m down 20 lbs. already, just 30 more to go until my goal wedding weight.  I plan to reach my ultimate goal weight (total loss of 80 lbs.) by my cousin’s destination wedding in April 2011.  It seems like a long way away, but those last few pounds will be the hardest!  Who else here is losing weight for their wedding and beyond?
I really need to get on my STDs ASAP.  It will take a few nights of working on them after exercising and making dinner to get them ready to go on Friday.  Maybe I’ll aim for sending them Monday.  I am early, after all.
Still working on my rehearsal dinner.  I’m really worried about people finding parking in Boston on a Friday night.  I’d run a bus or something from the rehearsal site, but not everyone that’s invited to the dinner will be at the rehearsal.  I’m worried about making out of town guests take the MBTA.  Any suggestions or ideas?

I know, AGAIN with the wedding dresses, but...thoughts?

At least I’m not really changing my mind again!  I just think this dress:

…is the closest to what I’ve been looking for; white lace, short train, sweetheart strapless neckline.  Perfect!  And only $189!  I’m in love…again
This time though, I’m waiting.  Why?  Because I finally started losing weight!  I’m down almost 9 lbs. already, and it’s been steady and healthy.  Simon and I are doing it together, and it’s really working.  We’re using SparkPeople.com, something everyone who wants to be healthy should check out!
If you do join, be sure to say CelestialAxis referred you.  ;)  It’s based on healthy lifestyle changes instead of dieting, and community support instead of being told what you’re doing wrong.  My SparkFriends are always there for me, with encouragement and virtual hugs.  You can also follow @SparkPeople on Twitter.  And the site is completely free!
It finally hit me on New Year’s Eve…I’m getting married THIS year.  Not in a year and a half, not in a year, not in 10 months.  Nine short months, THIS year.  I’d been trying on and off to lose weight for the wedding, then kept falling off the wagon with the excuse of “I have plenty of time.”  Well, now I don’t.  Not only do I want to look good in my wedding pictures, I want to start a healthier life and have energy for our eventual child.  When it finally clicked, suddenly it wasn’t so hard any more.  I’ve been eating right and exercising every day for over three weeks straight now.  It’s not a New Year’s resolution, it’s a LIFE resolution.  My BMI puts me in the obese category.  No more.
I will wear that dress, and I will look BEAUTIFUL.  I’m waiting till July to order it; it takes 3-4 weeks to arrive, leaving 2 months for alterations.  It will fit like a glove.  I will look and feel perfect!
